Everything went according to plan when sixth rankedVentspils (6-3) outplayed at home 10th ranked Liepaja (2-7) 104-69 on Sunday. Ventspils made 30-of-38 free shots (78.9 percent) during the game, while Liepaja only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Liepaja 46-26 including a 33-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American center Bryant Thomas (203-1999, college: C-N, agency: Olsta) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds. point guard Renars Birkans (186-1997) accounted for 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winning side. Four Ventspils players scored in double figures. Edvards Egle (190-2005) came up with 15 points and added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Liepaja in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Ventspils .
